GROUP CONDEMN GOVERNOR DOUYE DIRI SACK OF AIDES OVER LOYALTY TO FORMER GOVERNOR SERIAKE DICKSON

Femi Akintola, Lagos

The Concerned Former Stalwarts of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State, has condemned in strong terms of the Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri sack of political appointees loyal to former Governor Henry Seriake Dickson.

Nigerdeltagist reports that over 50 political appointees were sacked by Governor Douye Diri over loyalty to his predecessor, Senator Seriake Dickson just few weeks ago.

In a statement issued on Thursday 2, April, 2026, the concerned former PDP stalwarts, deeply described the governor’s decision–as expression of ingratitude to the former governor, who handpicked, and worked so hard for his materialization as Governor.

According to the stalwarts, it’s quite regrettable that people who worked so hard for the materialization of Senator Douye Diri as Governor of Bayelsa, were sacked by the same man whom they endangered their lives for, in 2019/2023 elections.

The governor and deputy governor, who are maternal relatives from Ayamassa community in Ekeremor local government area of Bayelsa, has metamorphosed the government into a family transactional enterprise.

Dr. Peter Akpe who pretends to be a pastor, has relentlessly championed tension and division within the state government. He is known creating discord between the governor, and government functionaries, including then PDP leaders since the inception of Senator Douye Diri administration.

Governor Diri who has unknowingly consented to be used by Dr. Akpe, couldn’t properly manage internal issues of the PDP in Bayelsa, but rather ran to the opposition, the APC, and has extended the same attitude to the APC, and party stalwarts are decamping to other political parties.

The governor who has turned the government to a family enterprise, destroyed the PDP due to inability to manage issues of the party, and ran to the APC, where members who fought so hard to build the party are marginalized, and has started decamping to other political parties.

The concerned former PDP stalwarts noted if it’s not an act of ingratitude by the Governor, how can he sack people who worked so hard for the materialization of his government simply because of loyalty to the man who singlehandedly handpicked him.

The stalwarts encourage all sacked appointees not to be deterred, but rather be steadfast in their support for the former governor, adding that it’s a short period of inconvenience for loyalty, and commitment to a common cause when in opposition.
